Sikander,it had controversies associated with it prior to its release over the title and rift between director and producers,but surprisingly still final product came out as great cinema,one need big heart to cut all ties with product he/she was associated with.Jatinder Mauhar made a wonderful film,but stayed away from it,when it was ready to hit theatres.A lot was done on editing table,and at times it reflect in film too,but it hardly effected the film.
Student Politics,Such politics is common on U.P/Bihar side,while in Punjab/Chd students prefer to stay away from it,Though in last few years its finding its root in Punjab as well,How politicians use students for their own purpose and all.Though film had no basic story,its character driven film,involved in various characters and director successful presented all of them.
Gul Panag,the way she speak punjabi,you just cant stop admiring her,She did full justice to her part,her speech in final moments of film is remarkable.Kartar Cheema is excellent in title role,he expressed more from his eyes,Raj Singh Jhingar supported the lead characters very well,he just lived his part,Yaad Grewal in negative role(through everyone is in grey shades) is funny,irritating and at the same time wonderful.Victor John and Manav Vij did fair job,actor who played the part of Shamir is great in his brief part.Often in such films music take backseat,but songs are not forced at all,Rabbi Shergill's Challa in climax is well placed,and go with pace.The scenes at Anandpur Saheb's Mela,Chandigarh's scenes(the lake,university and above all labor colony)all are captured in great way..Over all a must watch for thinking cinema's lovers
